Screw Balls Sports Lounge

Mary, Doug and Pam - donating money to the machines Ever the gamers - Bob, Ted, Rob and Bryan - playing golf

Saturday morning, our group had plans to do some more racing, but in more kiddie-styled karts at the Las Vegas Sports Complex. Due some mis-communications, we arrived to find the facility would not be opened for another couple of hours. Undaunted, we blew it off (figuring we'd gotten in the good racing already) and headed over to Screw Balls Sports Lounge for lunch and to catch the Busch series race.

The gang at Screw Balls - Paula, Ted, Ann, Bryan, Mary, Rob, Pam, Doug, Paul, Deb and John

During the Busch series race (with another friendly wager on who would win - Paul would win $14 with Carl Edwards taking the checkered flag), we enjoyed some good grub and each others' company. Mary, Doug and Pam spent additional time gambling, while Bob, Ted, Rob and Bryan 'golfed'. Before we left, there was time for another group photo-op. The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The group arriving at the Bullring Burnout contest winner

Saturday evening, we drove out to The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the evening's events and 'Bubba' night. The promotional info promised to include mullet, beer belly and burnout contests. How can you turn down that when it includes five classes of featured races?!

Some racing shots - taking a victory lap in the Bandoleros class, the IMCA Modifieds taking the green flag, Super Late Models rounding turn 3 and the Legends class under the lights.

John, Rob and Mary taking in the action on the racetrack

It was a beautiful night to be out at the track and we all enjoyed the action. Bryan and Doug, who have done some 'real' racing, helped educate us on some of the finer points (such as which cars were which class for us novices). All in all, watching live racing tends to reignite the fire that keeps even a SIM racer in the car week after week.

Our Sunday morning plans included breakfast and watching the NASCAR Dover race at Torino's Sports Pub and Restaurant, but Mother Nature had other plans, as the race was rained out and carried over to Monday. We set up our usual wager anyway, and Ann claimed the $12 with Ryan Newman placing the highest in the makeup race. With plans waylaid again, we had a great meal, then dispersed to do our own thing until the afternoon. One last meal together at T.G.I. Friday's and the weekend came to an end for some as they were leaving Las Vegas that evening. We all had a blast and vowed we wouldn't go another 4 years before our next reunion.
